What Hunters Are Saying
Proven Hunts. Trusted Guides.
Success in the backcountry comes from preparation, experience, and attention to detail. Our hunters consistently highlight our professionalism, small camp structure, and the effort our guides put in from first light to final day.

“Rawhide Outfitters has provided the best hunting trips of my life. Having hunted both bear and elk, I am amazed at the time and hard work that they put into baiting bear stations, building blinds, finding water springs, locating animals, setting up a comfortable camp and attending to every detail of the hunt. I can honestly say that I have never met a more honest hardworking and pleasant family than theirs!”
Steve Koerner
“I have elk hunted both archery and rifle with Rawhide Outfitters nine times and the Cranney’s continue to amaze me with the quality of their service. John, Cathy, Justin and Luke’s attention to detail and hard work will make a hunt in the wilderness of Idaho an experience to be remembered forever. The only downside is finding enough time to go again. Simply put, I would not elk hunt with any other outfitter…”
Duane Brown
“Rawhide Outfitters made it possible for me to fulfill my dream of killing a bull elk with my bow. The one-on-one guide to hunter ratio that you use is just great. It allows you to develop a relationship with the guide that allows you to work as a team to get your elk. Thanks again for a great trip. I will certainly be glad to recommend Rawhide Outfitters to anyone looking for a successful bow hunting trip.”

“Terrific trip, the guides were great and the dogs were well trained! This was the best adrenaline rush that I could ever have. I would hunt with Rawhide Outfitters again in a heartbeat. When you are out their chasing a lion or a bear, you don’t even think about being tired, because the adrenaline rush is so fantastic, you don’t even think about being exhausted. I was excited to get my cat on the first day of my two week hunt.”

“I had the best hunt of my life with Rawhide Outfitters. It was amazing how hard they worked for me to make my hunt as meaningful and successful as possible. My lion hunt was packed full of adventure, excitement, good food, hospitality and beautiful country. To harvest such a beautiful tom on the third day of the hunt far exceeded my expectations! Thanks for the GREAT memories and friendship.”

Plan Your Hunt by Season
Timed to Idaho’s Wild Country
Each hunt is scheduled around animal movement, weather patterns, and seasonal opportunity. Choosing the right season can shape the pace, terrain, and overall experience of your hunt.
Spring Black Bear
Spring brings rising water, fresh air, and landscapes coming back to life. This season is ideal for scenic float trips as rivers begin to move and wildlife becomes more active along the banks. Trail rides are comfortable with cooler temperatures, and early fishing opportunities can be productive as fish respond to changing conditions. Spring trips are a great choice for guests who enjoy quieter days outdoors and mild weather.
Best For: Scenic floats, comfortable trail rides, early-season fishing, and quieter days outdoors.
Elk • Combo Hunts • Specialty Hunts
Fall is prime big game season in Idaho. From early archery elk during the rut to general rifle and controlled hunts, this is the most dynamic time of year in the mountains.
Best For: Hunters pursuing elk or deer during peak seasonal movement.
Mountain Lion • Late Season Hunts
Snow tracking and colder conditions define winter hunts. These focused pursuits require patience, endurance, and adaptability in challenging terrain.
Best For: Experienced hunters looking for late-season opportunity.
